About Daniel
Daniel Portner is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Carnegie Institution for Science. He uses seismic imaging techniques to study the structure of Earth systems from the surface to the lower mantle. Daniel's work is focused on imaging subduction zones and understanding their role in the tectonic, geodynamic, and geochemical evolution of the Earth. This work includes prior studies across South America as well as in the Mediterranean and Alaska. For this project, Daniel will be helping the seismology group to deploy the MUSICA seismic network and image the crustal and mantle structure of the Colombian subduction zone.
