About Juan
Juan Gutiérrez got his B. Sc. in Geology from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in 2019, Sede Bogotá by performing local clay mapping, reserve calculation and economic viability studies for a brick factory in southern Bogotá in the uppermost Bogotá Formation. Currently he is a doctoral student at the Jackson School of Geosciences in UT Austin. His research is centered around the evaluation and characterization of the effect of slab flattening and slab resteepening in the Miocene-Pliocene in the foreland basins adjacent to the Eastern Cordillera in the northern Andes of Colombia.
