About Juan
Juan S. Jaramillo is a geological engineer from the Univer¬sidad Nacional de Colombia since 2016 and master in mineral resources. He is interested in the tectono–magmatic evolution of the northern Andes and the integration of geological mapping, geochemistry, and the geochronological evolution of magmatic arcs. He has examined the reconstruction of the Cretaceous, Paleocene, and Miocene volcanic arcs of the Colombian Andes. Currently, he is doing his PhD studying the tectono–magmatic processes and the compositional arc variations involved in the evolution of the Miocene to recent magmatic arcs in southern Colombia. Juan's interest in the project consists in the evolution of Miocene to recent magmatic rocks as a consequence of the subduction dynamics in particular of the slab flattening of the Nazca plate.
