
About Sebastián
Sebastián Gómez obtained his BSc in Geology from Universidad Eafit in Medellín, Colombia, where he evaluated sedimentological changes related to the Paleocene-Eocene warming events in a tropical environment. He worked as an intern at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute where he worked on the geological mapping of the Tatacoa desert, stratigraphy of Paleocene-Eocene sections of paleontological interest, and participated in the discovery various fossil sites in Colombia and Panamá. Sebastián is currently a Ph.D. student at Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil, where he studies temporal and spatial trends of rock exhumation and surface uplift in the Northern Andes, mainly using low-temperature thermochronology.
